The final prize winner of the 2014/15 Love Fisher Brown Award are runner up, New Earswick Indoor Bowls Club. The York-based indoor club are the latest to be profiled during Disability Bowls August and state that they are “proud to be one of the most inclusive clubs in the country”. They have worked in partnership with organisations including the Special Olympics, Askham Bryan College, Parkinson’s society and many more over the past few years to give as many people the opportunity to try bowls as possible.

There are on average 70 disabled participants regularly attending various weekly organised activities in the club. One of these is the Friday daytime session called ‘Bowlsability’ which provides two rinks of indoor bowls, two short mats and a boccia court for the participants to enjoy and take part in.

The club’s partnership with organisations such as Alzheimer’s Society, NHS and Mencap, together with the support of local councillors, saw their application for recognition as a “Building of Community Asset” being agreed last year.
