Special Olympics – Sheffield

Special Olympics

Four members of Disability Bowls England, with learning difficulties, took part in the Special Olympics that took place in Sheffield in August. The indoor bowls matches took place at the local venue of Doncaster Indoor Bowls Centre.

Steven Nicholson and Gemma Woodhead, Gold Medalist Mixed Event

 

Steven Nicholson, lead & Gemma Broadhead were undefeated as they became Gold medal winners in Mixed Pairs event.

 

Barry Nicholson and Lucas Manousios, Gold Medalists Open Pairs

Lucas Manousios, lead & Barry Nicholson were Gold medal winners in the Open Pairs event, also undefeated.

Both of these pairs events were played in a round robin format with 2 points being awarded for a win.

Barry Nicholson, Gemma Woodhead, Steven Nicholson and Lucas Manousios, Silver Medalists Team Event

Barry Nicholson, Gemma Broadhead, Steven Nicholson & Lucas Manousios were silver medal winners in the TEAM event. Played as a triples in a round robin format and each of the four bowlers played a minimum of two games.
