DBE “Going for Gold”

Today we launch our Disability Bowls England “Going for Gold” campaign as part of the build up to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the biggest showcase for disability bowls. Our para players will line up alongside our fellow Bowls England bowlers, to proudly represent “Team England”.

Over the next 16 months our High-Performance Squad will be put through their paces and fighting hard for the coveted 6 available positions: (Visually Impaired Mixed Pairs + Physically Disabled Men’s & Ladies Pairs). Those selected will be proud to pull on the England shirt and represent us all at our home games, starting on 28 July 2022 at Victoria Park Royal Leamington Spa.

As part of the long-term strategy to grow our membership, enabling more players to follow their dreams and embark on a pathway to selection for the 2026 Commonwealth Games we are launching the following new events:-

Sunday 6th June Visual Impaired Pairs at Basingstoke Town Bowls Club.
Sunday 20th June Learning Disability Pairs, Stoke Bowls club, Coventry.
Saturday 4th July Ladies Open Pairs & Ladies Day at Charlbury Bowls Club, Chipping Norton.
Sunday 11th July Men’s Open Pairs at Daventry Town Bowls Club.

We also aim to raise awareness and encourage greater participation by running various DBE Taster Days, Social fixtures and Friendly Competitions throughout the year, in addition to supporting the “Bowls England Big Weekend 28-31 May 2021.”
