It’s great to see as we fight for survival on the financial side of running DBE, that our spirits can’t be broken as we approach the season of “Goodwill to All” and that our players and support team still pull on our DBE shirts and showcase to all, our ability and the strength of the DBE family across the country.
The word inclusivity is used by many in power, but how inclusive is our sport of bowls is another question and when the chips are stacked against you, who will come riding to the rescue is the million-dollar question; I have failed to answer this these past 6 months. The fight is not over and I’m not singing yet, so fingers crossed for a happy 2024!
On the bright side the good news keeps coming with Helen Wood (DBE Para Indoor Home Nations Team Captain) making it onto
the top 50 of the EIBA ranking list, and Judy has secured some exciting big friendly fixtures for the Summer season, plus we are very close to finding out more about the IBD World Championships 2024 in South Africa over the next few weeks.
I make a point when travelling the world, doing my day job, to visit the local Disability/Para bowls associations and I am still amazed that the Disability bowls movement that Maggy Smith MBE started over 30 years ago is stronger than ever.

Kind Regards
We are Stronger Together
