My name is Daniel Adams.
With the announcement of another Lockdown and no planned return to Bowls I am planning to walk 10km (6.124 miles to be exact) in and around my hometown of Harlow every Saturday and Sunday. I will be starting on Saturday 16th January and finishing on Sunday 28th March. That is 22 days, walking a total of 134.728 miles. If there is no return to Bowls I may do it for even longer. I heard the story of Sir Captain Tom Moore at 100 years old walking around his garden 100 times this has inspired me to do this as he to me is one of my heroes.
I will be raising money for Disability Bowls England to help them survive through these awful times and to raise awareness of the charity. I am also doing this as my new year revolution and I very extremely bored with nothing going on. To sponsor me please click on this link https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DanielAdamsWalkingChallenge. Thanks in advance to anyone that is kind enough to sponsor me.
I started Bowls at 18 with Tye Green IBC and outdoors at 20 with The Griffin Bowls Club. I have aspergers syndrome and learning difficulties. I played in County, National and Disability Bowls England Competitions. I represented England in the first ever learning disabilities indoor bowls international series in Scotland which England won. It came down to the last end of the match on my rink I drew in the winning bowl to win the series. In the same year I won the Harlow sports personality of the year award 2019 beating Steve Mitchinson to the award. The Board of Directors of Disability Bowls England appointed me as the Intellectual Impaired Players (Learning Disability) Representative. Bowls has changed my life for the better as it help me grow as a person and gain confidence.
