Club Profile – Bristol IBC

The latest 2014/2015 Love Fisher Brown award entrant to be profiled is Bristol IBC. Bristol IBCThe club’s mission statement is to be “a totally inclusive, warm and friendly club” and through their ongoing efforts to engage with disabled bowlers, this mission statement is clearly being achieved. With nine bowlers using wheelchair’s to enable participation and a number of trained coaches and volunteers on standby to assist, the membership of Bristol IBC are demonstrably passionate about disability bowls.

The club has offered the British Wheelchair Bowling Association use of its facilities to run their national championships following the closure of their previous Stoke Mandeville base. In addition to this, the Bristol Blind Bowling Group regularly attend Bristol IBC and the club has also hosted the National Blind Bowls Association Championships.

Bristol IBCBristol IBC are continuing to develop their offer for disabled bowlers having contacted Sport England for funding support to allow for a greater breadth of adaptive equipment whilst also seeking to engage with Cerebral Palsy Sport through their partnership with the Bowls Development Alliance.
