DBE Performance Team Announcement

Update from the DBE Performance Team in relation to the selection of the 2022 Outdoor High-Performance Squad & Home Nations Squad.

Due to the congested DBE summer program, it has been decided to postpone the selection the Outdoor High-Performance Squad.
Meetings will be held over the winter to review & update the high-performance program including the method of nomination & selection. Discussions are also ongoing to introduce more test matches in addition to the annual Para International Home Nations Championships.

In order to select the team to represent England in the 2022 September Home Nations Championships the Performance team looked at the congested schedule this summer and agreed that it would be inappropriate to ask players to travel long distances on a weekend to trial when they had already travelled to compete in competitions, and for this exceptional year only will use the following criteria to select the September Home Nations Squad:-
• Consider information submitted on each HP Squad Nomination Form received.
• Observe players/directors in a number of competitions.
• Observe players/directors in Test Matches held this summer.
• Review player reports from previous Internationals.
• Consider the Classification & Gender restrictions imposed by the rules of the Home Nations Championships.

We are sure everyone will agree that coming out of a 2 year gap due to covid, combined with an exceptionally busy Commonwealth Games Year has created difficulties for everyone.
However, we are confident going forward that the Performance Team will create opportunities for members to progress though the pathway from beginner to High Performance in a structured and considered manner.

In the meantime, members are encouraged to enter as many competitions and events as possible to gain valuable playing experience & add achievements to their Bowling CV in readiness for future nomination.
